The price of fuel is has increased greatly and this has meant consumers are looking for value for money more than ever before, particularly those who use their car every day to commute to work or as part of their business.  With so many options out there what can BP offer the motorist in terms of reducing the cost of petrol?

British Petroleum (BP)

British Petroleum (BP) is a global oil and gas company.  The company headquarters is in London and from there it has become the third largest energy company and the fourth largest company in the world.  It is active in all aspects of oil and gas industry, including exploration and production through to renewable energies or anything in between.

Where can you find BP petrol stations?

BP operates over 1300 petrol stations in the UK alone making it widely accessible to UK consumers. It has over 22.400 petrol stations in 80 countries around the world however not all are branded as BP.   BP petrol stations can be found by the busy motorways, main highways and even in rural locations, please use the map below to find a BP petrol station near you.

BPs past and current market position

BP can trace its roots back to 1866 but it was not until 1920 that the public first saw the BP shield we recognise to this day.  BP is major contributor to many economies employing thousands of people across the globe.   It has however had a difficult time in the past 20 years as oil reserves have become harder to reach meaning more hazardous environments are explored this has unfortunately lead to incidents which have tarnished the company’s reputation, especially after the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil disaster.

BP Ultimate and Other Petrol Options

BP sells regular unleaded petrol and diesel as well as its premium fuel called BP Ultimate.  Its petrol prices tend to be higher than supermarkets for normal unleaded and diesel. BP pride themselves on the quality of their fuels and many online forums have debated the advantages of using BP fuel over other brands.

How green are BP petrol stations

BP is working hard as a company when it comes to being green but the nature of its business means that any accident no matter how small catapults them into the headlines.  It invests billions in research into more efficient ways of extracting oil and gas whilst protecting the environment but it has had a number of major disasters over the past few years which have not helped. It is their oil refineries and oil wells that are not very eco-friendly. In 2010 the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico. It killed 11 workers and caused an oil spill that soon became the worst environmental disaster in US history. They have been widely criticized and have come under increasing pressure to clean up their act.  BP claims that its Ultimate Fuel improves a car’s efficiency and thus reduces overall carbon emissions. If you take a look on their website they have a number of schemes aimed at helping you to neutralise your annual emissions.
