After a series of confusing messages from the government it seems that the whole of the UK is in panic buying mode for petrol. Queues are forming outside most petrol stations and there have been reports of some forecourts running dry due to the increased demand.

Here's another great way to save money on filling up with Petrol. Get the Santander 1,2,3 credit card. Not only do you get 1% cashback at supermarkets, and 2% a department stores (not sure what that applies to), but you also get a whopping 3% cashback for petrol purchases. Winter Driving

Britain is covered in a beautiful layer of snow, but this can make driving on our roads extremely treacherous. In these conditions you should only travel by car if it is absolutely necessary, and take precautions.
 
 - Slow down! Your stopping distances will be drastically increased, even if the roads are clear of snow and ice. This is because your tyres do not work as well when they are cold. And of course, if you are driving slowly you will have more time to react, and do less damage if you do spin off the road!

Which Side is the Petrol Cap?

Did you know that you can tell which side your petrol filler cap is just by looking at your fuel gauge?  Not a lot of people know that! On most cars there is a small arrow next to the petrol fillter symbol, and whichever side it is on indicates the side to use for filling up your car/ Very handy if you have a hire car, or perhaps are just forgetful. Tesco 10p of a litre of fuel

Looks like Tesco's have upped the ante already as they are currently offering whopping 10p off per litre of fuel if you spend over £60 (corrected from £40 in the original post, thanks for the feedback Anonymous!). Thats around £5 of a full tank of petrol! And to cap it all they are also offering a further £5 off your next spend over £40 in store. Read more »

Post Christmas petrol

Petrol prices have been fairly stable for the last few months, with unleaded generally between 130p and 135p. What will 2012 bring us I wonder? With Iran threatening to blockade a key oil route and all change in North Korea its possible that political events will pull petrol prices even higher. However if you ignore the politics then there is reason to be cheerful, the UK government seems to be avoiding putting up fuel duty, and the BP deep sea disaster is becoming a bit of a distant memory, with companies starting to drill again off the east coast of america.  Its th 12th of June and unleaded petrol prices are around 137p a litre. What a rip off!
