Morrisons ups the petrol price war

With unleaded and diesel prices reaching new highs it is great to see that the supermarket seem to be starting a bit of a pricing war. Last month Tesco were giving away 10p off each litre of fuel, but now Morrisons are offering an amazing 15p a litre if you spend over £60 in their store. For the average motorist this will save around £7.50 on a full tank of petrol, so it is well worth taking advantage off. Read more »

Santander Credit Card

Here's another great way to save money on filling up with Petrol. Get the Santander 1,2,3 credit card. Not only do you get 1% cashback at supermarkets, and 2% a department stores (not sure what that applies to), but you also get a whopping 3% cashback for petrol purchases. So with unleaded at around 130p/l, thats equivalent to almost 3p a litre discount! Read more »

Tesco 10p of a litre of fuel

Looks like Tesco's have upped the ante already as they are currently offering whopping 10p off per litre of fuel if you spend over £60 (corrected from £40 in the original post, thanks for the feedback Anonymous!). Thats around £5 of a full tank of petrol! And to cap it all they are also offering a further £5 off your next spend over £40 in store. Read more »

Nectar points and BP garages

Just a reminder to all those nectar card holders out there... BP accept nectar points at most of their petrol stations, and whats more, if you download the nectar app to your smartphone, you'll often easily be able to get double or triple reward points next time you fill up at a BP garage. 

January Fuel Vouchers and Deals

Its the start of the new year and although every store in the high street seems to have a sale on it seems that the fuel stations are not following suit. Neither the usual suspects of Tesco or Sainsbury are currently running any money off vouchers and there is little news on fuel vouchers or cashback.

However we at Whatgas have recently discovered that Shell offer a little advertised reward scheme giving you points every time you fill up. You can pick up a card in their petrol forecourts, or order online. Read more »
